The Israeli military launches a missile from the southern city of Beer Sheva into the Gaza Strip, November 15, 2012.

The Israeli regime carries on with attacking the besieged Gaza Strip as Egyptian Prime Minister Hisham Qandil arrives in the Palestinian territory

The latest airstrike by the Tel Aviv regime targeted southern Gaza on Friday shortly after Qandil’s arrival.

The attack was carried out despite remarks by an Israeli official who said on Friday, “Prime Minister (Benjamin) Netanyahu has agreed to an Egyptian request to cease fire during the visit to Gaza this morning by the Egyptian prime minister, a visit that is supposed to last some three hours.”

The Egyptian premier arrived in Gaza to express Egypt’s solidarity with the residents of the Palestinian territory.

Over 20 people have been killed and more than 160 others injured in the new wave of Israeli attacks since November 14.

Israeli media reported that the Israeli currency has dropped amid the deadly attacks on Gaza.

Meanwhile, the Tel Aviv regime has called up 16,000 army reservists for a possible ground invasion of Gaza following Netanyahu’s announcement that the military was preparing for a “significant widening” of its attacks against the blockaded territory.

In retaliation for the airstrikes, Palestinian resistance fighters have fired over a dozen rockets from Gaza into the Israeli cities of Ofakim, Ashdod, and the areas of Eshkol, Bnei Shimon, Sha’ar Hanegev and Hof Ashkelon
