Egyptians are set to hold a million-man march in Cairo to denounce recent Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip.

In a statement on Thursday, the Muslim Brotherhood called on Egyptians of all factions to take to the streets and protest in front of major mosques in Cairo and other cities after the Friday Prayers and express their solidarity with the Palestinian people in Gaza.

“What happened and what is ongoing on in the Gaza Strip is Israel’s encroachment on Palestinians’ lives and properties as well as violation of the international law,” the statement said.

“The Egyptian government must be the first to (cut ties), and serve as an example to Arabs and Muslims who maintain relations with this entity.”

The Brotherhood also urged all Egyptian political authorities to hold discussions about necessary measures to provide support to the Palestinian people.

It also called on the international community to carry its responsibility regarding ways to protect the Palestinians.

At least 22 Palestinians, including senior Hamas commander Ahmed al-Ja’abari, have been killed in the Israeli airstrikes on the blockaded Gaza Strip since November 14.

Meanwhile, Egypt’s Freedom and Justice Party (FJP), the political wing of the Muslim Brotherhood, censured the “brutal escalation of attacks” by the Israeli regime.

In a statement, the FJP called on the Muslim and Arab countries to counter the Israeli military action against the Palestinian people.

The Israeli military frequently carries out airstrikes and other attacks on the Gaza Strip, saying the actions are being conducted for defensive purposes. However, disproportionate force is always used, in violation of international law, and civilians are often killed or injured.

The Tel Aviv regime denies about 1.7 million people in Gaza their basic rights, such as freedom of movement, jobs that pay proper wages, and adequate healthcare and education
