The victim, identified as Farid Jaber, was knocked down on route 60 near the entrance to Kiryat Arba settlement on Friday. Witnesses said that the driver fled the scene.
Palestinian medics arrived on the scene shortly afterwards but Israeli troops prevented them from attending to the injured boy and he was taken to hospital in an Israeli ambulance.
Israeli soldiers also arrested two of the boy’s relatives.
