According to activists, police attacked protest rallies in Dallas, Atlanta, Seattle and Boston on Tuesday, forcibly removing protesters from protest sites

The police forces have also arrested scores of people, including around 200 anti-capitalism protesters in Boston and 27 activists in Chicago.

The campaign has now spread to nearly 70 major cities, including Seattle, Los Angeles, Dallas, Boston, and Purdue, as well as more than 600 communities across the nation.

“Stop the Machine” protesters have been occupying Freedom Plaza in the US capital of Washington DC since October 6 while another sit-in, dubbed “Occupy DC,” is underway at the city’s McPherson Square, near the White House.

Similarly, hundreds of protesters, including teachers and religious leaders have converged in downtown Chicago to rally against economic inequality, unemployment, and the prevalence of corporate greed in the country.

In Philadelphia, meanwhile, great numbers of demonstrators convene to dramatize their demand for an end to the persisting influence of cash in the political process, especially election campaigns.

The movement blames Wall Street for the economic problems faced by many in the US and has repeatedly called for an end to the war in Afghanistan and Iraq.

According to a report recently published by The New York Times, the average household income in the US after the recession has dropped even more than during the economic downturn.
