Around 250 films from over 50 countries have been slated to be screened at the 2011 international film festival in Munich, opened on June 24, the European Cinema reports.

The International program, comprised of 71 titles, mainly focuses on the theme of childhood and the pitiful legacy to future generations. Former Cannes selectees Corpo Celeste by Alice Rohrwacher and Breathing by Austria’s Karl Markovics are to be screened in this event.

The 95-min Iranian movie, Salve, directed by Alireza Davoudnejad will also compete with other cinematic productions produced in 2010 and 2011 at this year festival.

Lisa Aschan’s She Monkeys, Alex de la Iglesia’s The Last Circus, Frédéric Sojcher’s French/Belgian co-production Hitler In Hollywood, André Téchiné’s Unforgivable and Godard’s Film Socialism are some of the acclaimed movies that will be screened at the event.

Around 2,500 professionals and about 600 press representatives attend the very important annual international festival, which dates back to 1983.

This year’s event, which also includes a varied selection of films, shorts, documentaries and TV movies, is programmed to be closed with screening Aki Kaurismaki’s Cannes FIPRESCI Prize-winner Le Havre.
