IRGC resumes anti-PJAK operations

IRGC resumes anti-PJAK operationsReviewed by مدیریت پرچم های سیاه شرق on Sep 3Rating:

The Ground Forces of the IRGC launched the new anti-PJAK operations after the terrorist group refused to clear its forces out of Iran’s northwestern areas within the grace period set by the IRGC, IRNA reported Saturday.

The operations, aimed to flush the area from the terrorists and force elements of the group out of Sardahst heights, are to continue until the border area is totally clear of counterrevolutionary elements and security is restored in the region.

The operations have inflicted heavy damage, the report said, adding that the casualties would later be announced.

Members of the PJAK terrorist group — an offshoot of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) — regularly engage in armed clashes with Iranian security forces along the country’s western borders with Iraq’s semi-autonomous Kurdistan region.

Iran has recently deployed 5,000 military forces in northwest of the country, along its common border with the Iraqi Kurdistan region, to fight counterrevolutionary groups.
