TEHRAN (FNA)- The Syrian Army units and the Lebanese Hezbollah troops managed to seize control
of the Southern part of the Western Qalamoun mountainous region following their advances against
ISIL on the third day of their joint operation on Monday.
The army men and Hezbollah drove ISIL out of the heights of Sho’aba al-Dawab, Sho’aba Beit Shakar and Qana Ajloun.
In the meantime, the army soldiers and Hezbollah fighters imposed control over the strategic height of
Qana Sho’aba Akou in al-Jarajeer region overlooking the entire Southern territories of the Western Qalamoun region.
The army and the resistance forces managed to take back control of the Shamis Tam al-Mal and al-Qasireh
Wadi al-Shahout crossings West of Qalamoun region, imposing control over Mount Halimeh that is a main ISIL stronghold in the region.
Field sources reported that the Syrian Air Force has been bombing ISIL’s strongholds and movements
in Qalamoun heights heavily in the last three days.
Relevant reports said on Sunday that the Syrian soldiers and Hezbollah forces engaged in fierce clashes
with ISIL in the Northern part of the Western Qalamoun region and freed the height Qarna Sha’aba
al-Shanshar, al-Sahrij cave and Harf al-Jafr and moved towards al-Zoweitinityeh heights.
In the meantime, the army men and Hezbollah fighters imposed full control over Zalil Um al-Jama’ah heights
Northeast of al-khanzir heights and laid siege on ISIL in Martabiya canyon.
Field reports said, meantime, that the Syrian Air Force carried out a number of combat flights over ISIL’s positions
in Mira passageway, Matabiyeha and al-Roumiyat in Western Qalamoun, adding that the army’s artillery and
missile units shelled heavily ISIL’s gathering centers in al-Jarajeer and Qareh heights in Western Qalamoun.
