According to initial reports, a bomb package had been placed on the bus. A second bomb was also found at the site of the explosion.
Reports say a man placed the bomb on the vehicle and fled the scene before detonating it
Ambulances rushed to the blast scene to transfer the wounded to the hospital.
The Israeli police are reportedly investigating the incident.
The attack comes as the Israeli regime continues its brutal assault on the Gaza Strip. Over 140 Gazans, including women and children, have been killed and 1,200 others injured in more than 1,450 Israeli attacks on the besieged Palestinian territory since November 14.
On Tuesday, the Israel’s Chief of General Staff Benny Gantz authorized attacks on dozens of targets inside the coastal sliver and instructed commanders to “carry on as if there is no diplomatic dialogue.”
Gaza has been blockaded since 2007, a situation that has caused a decline in the standard of living, unrelenting poverty, and unprecedented levels of unemployment among the population of about 1.7 million Palestinians.
