Army forces opened fire on protesters and killed at least one protester in the capital on Sunday.

Three people were also killed and three more wounded in clashes in the second largest city of Taizz on Sunday.

Elsewhere, the overnight fighting between tribesmen and security forces loyal to Saleh left two tribesmen dead and three others injured, a tribal source told AFP.

On Saturday, thousands of women took to the streets in Taizz, shouting slogans against the United States and Saudi Arabia for meddling in their country’s internal affairs.

Yemeni regime forces shelled residential areas and clashed with protesters in Taizz overnight.

The deadly clashes began on Friday after Saleh returned to Yemen from Saudi Arabia, where he received medical treatment for injuries from an attack on his palace three months ago.

More than 170 people, mostly unarmed protesters, have been killed in the capital since last Sunday.
