Al-Wefaq said the planned anti-government rally on September 9 is aimed at insisting on the protesters’ demands.
The latest opposition call for demonstration comes as the Al Khalifa regime continues its brutal clampdown on peaceful protesters.
Meanwhile, video footage aired earlier in the week by the Arabic language Al-Alam news channel showed regime forces had used poisonous tear gas grenades against the protesters.
The poisonous tear gas grenades have allegedly been supplied to the Al Khalifa regime by the US.
Regime forces had also less than two weeks ago killed 14-year-old Ali Jawad following Eid al-Fitr (which marks the end of the fasting month of Ramadan) after they shot him directly in the face with a tear gas canister at close range in the southern city of Sitra.
Massive protests broke out in Bahrain in February with people taking to the streets and calling for a constitutional monarchy — a demand that later turned into calls for the ouster of the monarchy.
