The statement expressed Iran’s readiness to engage in constructive cooperation with the government of Argentina to shed all possible light into the case within a legal framework and based on mutual respect, IRNA reported on Saturday.

According to the statement, the cooperation of the two governments on the case with promote a more appropriate implementation of justice and will help in halting the “misguided way” in which judicial probes into the 17-year-old terror bombing has been conducted.

The Iranian ministry deplored all terrorist actions, including AMIA, and declared its solidarity with families of the victims.

It also expressed regret that facts about the case and its actual perpetrators have not been identified after 17 years, citing political gimmicks and foreign influences for the criminal effort.

The statement also expressed strong displeasure with respect to false allegations brought against Iranian nationals by former Argentine judicial officials, whose illegal measures have already been exposed and proven by the country’s courts.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry voiced its optimism about the release of a report “in the near future with the objective of providing more details on the deviated and unfair” trend in which the case was being conducted.

According to the international law, the Islamic Republic has the legitimate right and is duty-bound to defend its citizens and halt any violation of their rights, the statement further explained.

Under intense political pressures by the US and the Israeli regime, Argentina formally accused Iran of carrying out the attack on the Jewish community center in Buenos Aires that killed 85 people and wounded 300.

Faced with lack of any evidence for their anti-Iranian allegations, only false and contradictory statements by Iranian dissidents seeking asylum in the West have been used by Argentine prosecutors to level charges against Tehran. The Islamic Republic has vehemently and consistently denied any involvement in the terror bombing.
